Job Title: Coordinator – Agriculture
Location: Songea
Supervisor: Director
Reporting To: Director - Caritas Songea
Major Responsibility: Mobilize households and facilitate implementation of the IRDWSEE /Sustainable Agriculture Project while also coordinating all agricultural projects and programs under the Caritas Archdiocese of Songea.
- Specific Job Responsibilities: Facilitate mobilization of Households to be involved in the IRDWSEE Project
- Facilitate the formation of farmers’ groups
- Train farmers/Households in Sustainable Agricultural practices
- Facilitate the timely establishment of a demo plot for sustainable agricultural Practices
- Provide support to farmers and monitor the progress of agricultural programs implemented by Caritas Songea.
- Sensitize households/farmers on Saving and Internal Lending Community (SILC)
- Facilitating training of FEO and lead farmers/ Animators
- Link farmers to relevant stakeholders (market, microfinance institution, etc.)
- Ensure timely submission of monthly progressive reports to the director and to development partners as required.
- Work closely with the GAD coordinator to achieve the plans of Caritas Songea.
- Fully participate in workshops/training and meetings organised by Caritas and development partners.
- Any other role/tasks that you will be assigned by the director and have a contribution in achieving Caritas vision and mission.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Field Extension Officers (FEOs)
Key Working Relationship:
Internal: Caritas team
External: Target Communities and other development stakeholders
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural general or related field from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of experience working with smallholder farmers.
- Demonstrated personal accountability and drive to service others.
- Affinity for partner relationships
- Familiar with gender in development
- Have not been convicted of criminal cases related to child abuse
- Ability to work well as a team
- Knowledge in using computers and data collection-related devices.
- Have good ability to communicate in English and Swahili
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to ride a motorcycle/vehicle with a valid driving license.
Physical Requirements/Environment: Up to 75% travel in the field
